Little Rock Martial Arts features a blend of mixed martial arts, combining the best and most practical techniques from disciplines such as: Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai Boxing, American Kenpo Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Practicing martial arts at Little Rock Martial Arts in Little Rock, AR is about physical fitness, character development, developing knowledge and taking action - not just kicking and punching.

"The concept of self defense has changed for me over the years.  As a young adult training in the martial arts in the 1970’s, martial arts and self defense were about kicking and punching, about surviving each class to prove that I was tough enough to become a Black Belt.   As I have grown older, and I hope wiser, I realize that self defense is more than physical technique and learning how to fight.

We LIVE the idea that small things, small efforts, eventually add up to be big accomplishments. Take push-ups for example: 30 push-ups a day totals almost 11,000 push-ups in a year.  Even our youngest students are asked to develop self discipline.  Or take "acts of kindness" ---it only take 3 acts of kindness a day to accumulate 1000 in a year's time."

Michelle Ray, Owner/Master Instructor

Acts of Discipline

Want to get in the best shape of your life?  Physical fitness is accomplished through consistent effort.  No “weekend warriors” here! Pushups, crunches, repetition of technique all combine to build the habit of physical activity as a lifestyle.

Acts of Kindness

Students at Little Rock Martial Arts document AOK on an ongoing basis as one of their requirements for Black Belt Rank.

What Is Your Tree?  Julia Butterfly Hill from Jonesboro, AR spent two years living in a tree to draw attention to the endangered ancient forests of the Northwest. We use her activism as an example of how to combat apathy and complacency.

Do you have a tree?  Do you believe strongly enough about something to change a habit, to take action?  What are you willing to do to make a difference for the good of our planet?  What Is Your Tree challenges participants to become educated about the environment and to take action to reverse environmental degradation and conspicuous consumption.

Students at Little Rock Martial Arts complete their What Is Your Tree project during the six month green belt rank period.

Defeat Diabetes is the brainchild of Andy Mandell, a martial artist with Diabetes that completed a 10,000 mile walk around the perimeter of the United States to draw attention to the risks of Diabetes and outline the healthy eating habits and lifestyle changes that can prevent Type II Diabetes in children and adults.   We incorporate the Defeat Diabetes curriculum as a component in the education of our students.

Peace Is More Important Than Punches reinforces through the use of meaningful quotes and real life examples that positive change can be accomplished through individual efforts. “Be the change you want to see in the world”.

Safety Course for Youth provides practical information on stranger danger, as well as home and street safety.

Adult Self Defense educates our students about the three components of crime, legal aspects of self defense, the personal safety ladder, what a predator looks for in a victim and the “interview” process he will use, and the use of verbal judo to de-escalate a confrontation.
